Rodent Control for Businesses
Rodents don’t just enter your building—they impact your business.
When rats or mice show up, it’s not just a pest issue. It’s a sanitation risk, a safety concern, and a potential reputational hit. Customers notice. Employees notice. Inspectors definitely notice. And by the time you see one, the problem is already established behind the scenes.
Rodents can cost you more than removal fees
In a commercial setting, rodent issues don’t stay small for long. Mice reproduce quickly and remain hidden, contaminating surfaces, storage areas, and workspaces without being seen. Rats are larger, more destructive, and more noticeable—often creating immediate concern when spotted by staff or customers.
What starts as a single sighting can quickly become a larger issue affecting multiple areas of your facility. And once it becomes visible, it’s no longer just a maintenance problem—it’s a business problem.

Rats and Mice cause different problems
Not all rodent problems look the same—and in a commercial environment, that difference directly affects how the issue should be handled.
Mice are smaller, harder to detect, and tend to stay hidden within walls, storage areas, and tight spaces—making them a constant contamination risk. Rats are more aggressive, travel further, and are significantly more destructive, often nesting in ceilings, roofs, and utility areas while damaging infrastructure.
Both create serious operational and compliance risks, but each requires a different strategy to control effectively. Treating them the same is why many businesses see temporary results—and recurring problems.

How I tell if it's a rat or field mouse?
Mice are smaller and stay closer to their nests. Rats are larger, more destructive, and often enter through rooflines or larger gaps.
Remove the Rodents. Seal the Entry.
Getting rid of rodents isn’t about catching a few and hoping for the best. If you don’t address how they got in—and monitor what happens next—the problem resets.
At Leaf Pest Management, we follow a
structured, step-by-step rodent removal and prevention process designed to eliminate the current issue and reduce the chance of it returning.
Step 1: Initial Removal of Rodents
We start by identifying where rodents are active—attics, walls, crawlspaces, garages—and where they’re getting in.
We place targeted traps in key areas to remove the current population quickly and efficiently. At the same time, we inspect the home for entry points along the roofline, vents, and foundation.
This step focuses on stopping the active problem and mapping out the full scope.
Step 2: Follow-Up Visit (Month 2)
Rodent control doesn’t end after the first visit.
We return to evaluate activity levels, remove or reset traps, and confirm whether the population has been fully eliminated. This step is critical—it tells us if there’s remaining activity or if new rodents are attempting entry.
If needed, we adjust placement and reinforce vulnerable areas.
Step 3: Ongoing Protection (as needed)
For homes with higher exposure—trees near the roofline, older construction, or previous infestations—we recommend ongoing service.
This may include bi-monthly maintenance visits to monitor for new activity, maintain protective barriers, and address small issues before they become large infestations.
It’s a proactive approach that keeps rodents from re-establishing inside your home.
Family and Pet-Safe Control Methods
We use contained rodent stations and secure trap systems placed strategically around the home.
These are designed to be:
- Not accessible to children
- Safe around most pets when properly placed
- Non-invasive to your daily living space
- No loose poisons. No guesswork. Just controlled, targeted removal.
